Sunbeams Room

Our Sunbeams room caters for children from 2 years to 3 years.

The adult:child ratio for this room is 1:4

Children can wear their own clothes or uniform, if you wish.

Children have access to a range of resources and activities to help them develop their Personal, Social & Emotional skills, Communication & Language skills and their Physical skills .

To support the development of children's communication & language we implement the following programmes:

  • ELKLAN
  • Toddler Talk
  • Every Child A Talker
  • Keys to Communication

Some of these activities will also help the development of children's personal, social & emotional and physical skills.

We have excellent working relationships with the speech and language team, the health visitors team and community nursery nurses (that work alongside the health visitors).

To support early identification and early intervention of all children at risk of poor speech and language, we have signed up to the Wigan Early Years WellComm Project. This is a speech and language screening tool that provides early intervention activities for children with the aim of helping to identify children at risk of speech & language difficulties and will need additional support.

For children attending in nappies we ask that you provide these, in a backpack/bag.

For children that are toilet trained we ask that you send in a bag of spares, just in case.

For all children we ask that you send in a backpack/bag that contains at least one change of clothing as we do have messy activities and water play, which may result in the children needing a change of clothing.
