Welcome to the start of another new term.  We would particularly like to welcome those families who are new to  Atherton Pre-School.  For those returning it is lovely to see the children returning, some for their final term before leaving for School.

Key Workers

Each child will have a key worker who will take time to form a special relationship with your child and be the first point of contact should you have any questions.    Staff are keen to work with you and your child to ensure that your child’s time at Nursery is the best that it can be.

Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or key worker.  The key worker will help your child to become familiar with the provision and to feel confident and safe whilst developing a genuine bond with the child and child’s parents/carers.

What’s new……?

Uniform – Logo uniform is now available to buy in Nursery.  This has been provided by Wendys of Tyldesley and can be purchased direct from Nursery rather than having to travel to Tyldesley.  A variety of sizes are in stock of the polo shirts, cardigans and sweatshirts.  If we have no stock in your child’s size we can order from Wendys ourselves for delivery to Nursery.  Polo shirts £6, unisex sweatshirts £7, girls cardigans £8.

Outside Environments – We have been enhancing our outside areas and will continue to do this over the Summer term.  We have purchased new planters in the Pre-School in readiness for the children to plant out.

Indoor Environments – The Pre-School Room has benefitted significantly from the extra space made by the building of the extension.  It has enabled us to accommodate all of the Pre-School children in the Pre-School room rather than running a Lower Pre-School from the Sunbeams room.   The Sunbeams room looks much better since being re-painted over the Easter holidays.  Thank you to the parents for the lovely feedback.  Continued improvements will include new flooring in the near future.

Wider Safeguarding – Keeping Children Safe

All information regarding Wider Safeguarding is displayed on the Wider Safeguarding Board in the entrance foyer of the Community Centre.  It is updated regularly.  If you have any concerns please feel free to speak to Angela or Tracey.

Easter Raffle – The winning numbers were 890 – 1st Prize and 825 2nd Prize and 665 3rd prize.  Thank you to all who bought tickets.  The amount raised was £100.

We are hopeful for some sunshine this term so that the children can play outdoors, get some fresh air and let off some steam!!  We do have factor 50 sunscreen which we will apply to the children if the sun is shining.  However, if you would prefer for us to use your own sunscreen then please ensure this is in your child’s bag and let your child’s Keyworker know it is there.

Children in Pre-School need to follow our Uniform policy.  Particularly, please ensure your child attends Nursery in black shoes and not wellies.  Wellies can be left in Nursery in the designated “Welly Bags” for outdoor play.  If you have any questions regarding uniform please ask your child’s keyworker.  The uniform is as follows:

Boys:  Grey trousers or shorts, yellow polo shirt, navy blue jumper/sweatshirt

Girls:  Grey pinafore, skirts or trousers, yellow polo shirt, navy blue, cardigan/jumper/sweatshirt, yellow summer dress

Uniform is optional for the Sunbeams room

If you think you will qualify for 30 hours of funding please let us know in advance to that we can reserve you additional sessions.    If you have any questions regarding this then please call into the office and speak with Angela or Dawn.   For those children moving from Sunbeams to Pre-School in September 2019 the Universal 15 free hours will be automatically applied for by ourselves.  For those wanting 30 hours funding (if entitled) you will need to apply online by 1st July 2019 to enable you to bring in the code to us before the end of term and for us  to allocate the extra sessions for your child.

Healthy Eating

We continue to promote Healthy Eating for our children and have added raw carrot to the choices available for snack time (apple, pear, satsuma and banana).
